Yamaha and Toyota have plans to build hybrid motorcycle

Toyota and Yamaha hybrid motorcycle

It looks more like a scooter to me, but it's true. The word in Europe is that Yamaha and Toyota will team up to build the first hybrid motorcycle. We've even heard that it's gonna be dubbed the ‘Prius' (no, not the buzz car) and that it will be powered by both a 20bhp internal combustion engine and an electric motor, but that's more than we can take. How's that for you? The internal combustion engine will be a 250cc horizontal single with two jobs to do: send power to the rear wheel and to a (…)

Pics aplenty: Denise Milani on quad

Denise Milani on quad

Simply take a look at the picture gallery that we've came across while preparing to hit the sand dunes this weekend. Denise Milani is a Czech Republic native and a famous supermodel who has kept secret her “passion” for quads and sand dune riding for quite some time now. To be totally honest, we have serious doubts that she even knows how to start the thing, but posing is a passion too, isn't it? Check out the big bust picture gallery after the break. (…)

Buell 1125CR

2010 Buell 1125CR

Buell likes to consider the 1125CR a modern day café racer and while the perfect blending of class-leading performance with sinister styling and a wicked attitude to push the boundaries of the streetfighter category means they're not at all far from the truth, we'll just go ahead and say that this bike is close to being the ultimate in streetfighter performance and style. What qualifies it is the fact that it is pretty much a stripped down 1125R (a veritable superbike). PRESS RELEASE BUELL (…)

2011 Yamaha FZ1 engine to feature cross-plane crank

2011 Yamaha FZ1 rendering

According to French motorcycle magazine Motorevue, Yamaha is preparing R1's cross-plane crank engine for the 2011 FZ1. Together with it, upgraded suspension, six-pot brakes and a new R1-inspired half-fairing will make the line between supersport and sport-touring even thinner. Ever since the 2006 revamp, when the FZ1 go fuel-injection for its “previous generation” R1 engine, the bike carried on being produced without any significant upgrades and it seems that the need was felt for some new (…)

Jorge Lorenzo renews his contract with Yamaha

Jorge Lorenzo

During these last few weeks, MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo has been oscillating between Fiat Yamaha (his current team) and Ducati Marlboro for the 2010 season. While Ducati's multi-million dollar offer did sound tempting, Lorenzo has decided to renew his contract with Yamaha and will continue being Valentino Rossis's skilled teammate. It seems that riding the best bike for the job is more important for a racing rider than any financial offer. ‘Today is a good day because I have decided to remain (…)

How about an Electric Lambretta?

Electric Lambretta

Scoot! Magazine is asking all scooter riders out there if Wheego, an electric vehicle manufacturer, should build an electric Lambretta GP200e scooter or not. Their tagline is “Brilliance or Sacrilege?” and we tend to stick with the brilliancy part, but we've come to find that there are people who not only support this idea and would eventually buy such a scooter when it will hit dealerships (because sooner or later, it will) but even go ahead and put together a “TOP FIVE REASONS AN ELECTRIC (…)

Harley-Davidson FXDFSE2 CVO Fat Bob

2010 Harley-Davidson FXDFSE2 CVO Fat Bob

Harley-Davidson's 2010 CVO lineup needs no presentation whatsoever, but the Fat Bob is now making an even stronger name for itself as a limited-production custom motorcycle. It relies on an aggressive, super-duty presence behind a beefy front wheel, twisted Tommy Gun exhaust, bold paint and innovative custom styling, meaning that it stands all the chances to achieve its goal. Using the Harley-Davidson Dyna platform, which pairs Big Twin performance with an extended FX front end, exposed (…)

Reinventing motorcycles…with future electric movie icons?

Enertiaryder

It might seem that some things are there to look the same for ever and ever, but life is no fairy tale and as things are evolving, people are trying to reinvent the past with what they got on their hands now. For instance, Brammofan has come up with a very interesting way to promote the famous Brammo Enertia electric motorcycle with excellent results. People are sending in Photoshop creations such as the “Enertiaryder” and the “Terminator Enertia” as part of a contest that they have going on. (…)

Pics Aplenty: BMW F 800 Reloaded by AC Schnitzer

BMW F 800 Reloaded by AC Schnitzer

BMW's tuner, AC Schnitzer, presents their latest intervention on a motorcycle. The BMW F 800 Reloaded, as it is called, has suffered multiple changes and upgrades, the sportier look being valued through the infinity of accessories. The mid-sized naked known as the F 800 R now drifts away from its origins and actually looks very similar to its bigger sibling, the K 1300 R, which was also tuned by AC Schnitzer. Thus, in the list of replaced parts and accessories we find: new front spoiler, (…)
